this blog

….is sooooo yesterday. and now, time for something new. If you’ve been wondering why it’s been awhile since I have posted anything, this was the reason. I’ve been working on getting my new blog and website up over the past few months, and the moment of truth has finally come (sans the completely updated website) with a couple images from recent shoot. So check out the new blog and leave me some comments, it’s gotta get worn in somehow!

I’ve been finding it more and more important to be shooting for myself lately and have been doing so at least once a week. It not only helps to develop creativity and vision for what you are shooting, but also allows you to work on craft, direction, and style. Because you are not working under pressure, it relieves the boundaries associated with an assignment and gives you free reign to push yourself andexperiment.

I’ve been keeping busy and am really excited for things that are lined up for the next half year. I’m in the process of getting my new website up and filling it with more content, but feel free to check it out for the time being. It has an awesome contact form you can fill out if you have questions or comments.

Happy 4th everyone.

I spent the last weekend in Chicago with my friend Spencer Combs shooting a wedding. This is a video from our day off! I know it’s super nerdy and might not make the most sense, but we had a blast and loved how the video explained our day perfectly. Here’s also an image from the wedding that weekend:

So sorry for the lack of posts, June was so awesome and busy at the same time. I’ll have some news to post in the next day or two. Thanks for reading!

business cards

I finally got myself a business card. I bought a quick box of 250 and have gone through a good chunk of them already. I’m already thinking of ideas for how I’ll change it, but I think it’s a good start for now. Any ideas or suggestions would be awesome!

Thanks to my friend Gene for collaborating with me!

I’ve been taking the past week to sit back and enjoy my freedom from the studio, but I’ve been keeping busy still while ramping up for all the summer work that’s ahead. In the past week I’ve shot a wedding, a band, and an engagement shoot, not to mention a couple personal projects and friends. Lots of images to go through, but here is one with my friend Taylor, who I have recently started hanging out and biking with. He’s a good kid, and was kind enough to be a model for me while I had another younger kid named Spencer shadow me. It was rainy that day, but everything worked out well with the location and it set a good mood. It also ended well with some great pizza from a place none of us had ever heard of. There are so many good images from this shoot, but I tried to show most of them without making it too long.

Rewind to a few weeks ago, when sleep was a commodity and there was no such thing as “it can wait for tomorrow.” A lot happened during this past semester, especially in studio. As I am applying for the Bachelor of Science in Architecture Degree, I was told to prepare a portfolio of some of my work. I omitted a section of drawings and some of my photography work which is in the final printed version from this image to keep it short, but you can view it here: portfolio

It turned out well, and it looks even better in print. Thanks to Wallace Carlson for that!

When I was in high school I spent 3.5 months in Germany as an exchange student, and my host family was probably the coolest you can find. Since then either my family goes to visit or they come visit us every year, and so since I was there last May, my german host brother Daniel is coming to visit. He should be here for a couple weeks after he arrives on Saturday, so I’m excited for all that we have planned!

I’ve received a few emails over the past few days from a lot of different viewers and it’s made me super stoked to hear from everyone! I appreciate all the feedback and questions, so keep them coming!

Dusty

I’ve been super busy the past couple weeks, leaving me a bit behind on updating everything. I have a couple shoots to wrap up this week and a couple more on the way after that. These are some I did while hanging out with my roommate Dusty, who has been living with me for about 4 months. He’s a tattoo artist, is in a band, and has a pet boa constrictor, so you get a pretty good idea of how cool he is.

I’m finishing up my architecture portfolio and a couple other school things this week, but after that it’s freedom. I’ll post a few screenshots or images of the portfolio when it’s done.

Life’s been great, I hope everyone is well!

Birthday

Today was my girlfriend’s birthday, but because she’s so busy finishing her studies this week we took all day saturday to celebrate. I took her out for good evening of food, walking, horse carriage ride, coffee and dessert, and just some much needed time together. I would have a picture of her flowers, but didn’t have time to get one, so I’ll put one up soon. I take time to pick out flowers for my girlfriend, just so they match every occasion and they’re different everytime, needless to say she loves it!
